USEFUL INFO.

As Turkey is not a member of the EU, there is no reciprocal heath care available. 

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ADEQUATE TRAVEL INSURANCE BEFORE TRAVELLING.

 

On arrival in Turkey you will need to purchase a visa at the airport. 

For this you will need a £10 note.  The visa is for three month duration.

 

If you want a trolley at a Turkish airport, you will need a £1 coin.

 

Advice from the Foreign & Commonwealth Office:

 

DO NOT remove any antiquity or piece of an ancient monument from the country – even the smallest piece -

as this is punishable by imprisonment!!!

 

Get adequate travel and medical insurance.

 

Carry details of prescribed medication or history of serious illness, it may be crucial in an emergency.

 

Advise your friends or family of your travel plans.

 

Carry two passport sized photos and a photocopy of your passport in case of loss.

The use of metal detectors is strictly prohibited.

 

Check the Foreign & Commonwealth Office travel advice before travelling.

 

Bring enough money or have access to backup funds (Scottish Currency is not accepted)

 

Road conditions are not good and driving can be dangerous.  Take great care.

 

You will be detained by the authorities if caught smuggling or in possession of contraband goods, eg cigarettes

 

Drug offences carry severe penalties. Do not get involved.

 

Do not photograph military installations or individuals if they are unwilling.

 

Do not overstay your visa, heavy financial penalties are enforced.
